Default Marlin Firearms bought out by Soros?

Received this in an email and wanted verification if it is true or not...

"Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us, America! Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsman. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.

Something You May Not Know That Is Happening
Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns??? For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States. If you control the manufacturers you can decide to stop selling to civilians.

What a perfect way to control guns.
Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS!!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns.

Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come out. Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media? I would think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some Research. He backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.

Send this to every gun owner in America. "

Does anyone believe there is anyway the NRA would miss this? It's only a matter of adding 2+2 and they would have been all over this.

that email has been floating around for several years now, as has been the rumour that George Soros has some type of ownership of these companies. it was debunked a long time ago as an internet myth.

these companies depend on us as consumers to buy their products in order to make revenue that in turn is made into profits. the very idea that they would allow someone who has a strong anti gun agenda to run or own their operations which could affect their bottom line in profits is laughable.

this myth just keeps popping up from time to time, updated to look current. i recieved one myself four or five years ago as spam email. i read it and deleted it. it also has been discussed on other forums for quite awhile. IMO, it isn't anything other than pure hogwash! everytime i have seen it before and when asked for verification and source on where the information is coming from, it usually stops there with no sources or validation as to authenticity.

Yeah...I think this is an old rumor been around the block a few times. Nothing surprises me anymore, but I think even Soros wouldn't spend billions on gun companies just to put them out of business. Remington is doing such a bad job of managing Marlin it may collapse on it's own. I for one sure hope things get better. I would like to have a 338ME one day and would really like to see a small caliber...maybe a .257ME.
