Just shot my "new" Marlin 27 years old 700 22 model today. The weapon performed very well and was a lot of fun to shoot. I need to practice since this is my first rifle. I am familiar with a pistol but have never shot a rifle except an M-16 in the military.

I have never heard of a 700, assumed it was basically a 70/995 variant, but not quite a 7000. Looks like it was a west coast model designation of the 70/70HC/995 versions. I have 3 of them, I use the 995, my oldest boy the 70 and the youngest the one that is stamped 70HC, but they are all the same rifle.

If you want your new Marlin 700 to feel like the M-16 of your past, put a set of tech sights on it. Easy install. Link to Tech sights Click on Marlin 60 & 795 sights.
