Took my Mossberg 20 ga out to pattern for spring Turkey and wouldn't pattern for poop..tried 5 & 6 shot .hevi shot and nitro turkey..Turkey and full choke..frustrated a bit..picked up an 870 express 12 ga popped in some #6 hevi shot and did great..not starting a rant as lots of folks Turkey with a twenty, just wanting thoughts on the matter..besides I can always use an excuse for another shooting iron !!!

Taken turkey with both. My Mossberg 20 has a Turkey choke and I shoot Federal #6 in it. Same Ammo in the Mossberg 12s also with Turkey choke. I also find the 20 dosnt pattern as good as the 12s and of course the range is less. Around 30 yards is what I (and my grandson) have taken birds at. The 12s have been good out to 60 yards.

Up to a point I think you are right. In all the turkey shoots I have been to NEVER seen a 10ga win any thing. Right along with the 12ga (which I think is the optimum) the 16ga does great. Seen a lot of 16s that patterned super.
Range seems to be right with the 12s also.
