Oct 31`- 1 Nov is early youth season. The Bawana is already to go. tomorrow will sight in the Deer Rifles on the new 100 yd range. Bawana shoots a Marlin 7X youth model in .308. Carson the oldest, now that he is 16 no Youth season for him. Carlie the 12 yr old grandaughter wants to go this year. I will use the Savage 101 in 30-06.

Sat-Sun highs will be mid 50s. Just about right for hunting. Night time lows in the lower 40s. Good temp to let em hang for a few days.

I sat in the deer stand this morning and about 0900 a small doe wondered up and hung around for a good 20 minutes. She was about 50-70 yards out most of the time and at one point came to within 20 yards of the deer stand.

Regular season starts the 14th of Nov. First 11 days are "Any Deer"

Good luck to you and your huntin buddies. Hope ya all limit out.

My season ended today, unless I can find some more tags in other counties. My bus drivin days have hurt my back and legs. I did get out, but only one day. I hurt so bad after walkin for just a short walk in the woods I spent most of the day in a ground blind. There was not a soul in the woods that day...I had it all to myself but I didn't see anything and couldn't call one in. Better luck next time I guess.

Fingers crossed for your good luck.
Good Luck, When is your bow season up there?

Bow season started Sept 15 thru Jan 15. I dont stick things with little sharp sticks ...... :D
Deer season ( rifle ) here in Pennsylvania starts November 30th...

Good Hunting SWO1...!!
Good hunting, fill that freezer.
Wishing much success to all that partake.
My deer hunting days, for the most part, are behind me. With my bum knee and a lack of physical strength, I'll just have to share in your success stories. ;) I'm OK with that. I have memories of many years of time in the field.
Just in case some young whipper snapper wants to drag me along, I'll hang on to my equipment & gear. Never know what tomorrow may bring.
Have fun, enjoy and be safe. :D
Everyone have a safe and good season. The Bawana shot his marlin .308 along with my grand daughter. they both kept em within 2" a couple inside 1"off a wobbly make shift rest. My Savage 30-06 put two inside 1". All shots from 75 yards.
As Sherlock Holmes said "The Games Afoot". 0"dark thirty in the morning. The Bawana and myself in the main deer stand. I will have the Mossberg 835 just in case a turkey strolls by....

Good luck to you both my friend.
Nothing yesterday. It was raining most of the morning. Today Carlie, the grand daughter, will go out. Gonna be sunny and a little warmer. Maybe they will be moving around. Its her first hunt.
So much for youth season. It was foggy till about 0730 then sunny and nice. Nothing in the morning. In the afternoon the Bawana went back out again. Stayed to legal shooting time was over. Told him if he shot it near dark he was field dressing it by himself .... :p Nothing again. However we did have a possum waddle by and a small bobcat. It looked like a female but not for sure. It almost had a tree rat but it got away and up a tree.

Regular season starts the 14th of Nov. Dont think the rut has started yet. Did find a small cedar about 4' tall rubbed bare from bottom to almost the top. It was about 100 yards north of the stand on a lane and cross fence.

I still have to brush hog a small field in the north but I broke the Generator bracket on the tractor. Have to get it fixed tomorrow.
Regular deer season opens tomorrow morning .... half hour before sunrise till half hour after sunset. Looks like only me and the Bawana will be going out. The grand daughter has a band compatetion and the older grandson Carson has his car now .... and with that Girls .... LOL. He is kind of iffy about going out.

took a walk around yesterday afternoon and jumped one up below my deer stand. Dont know if a buck or doe, only saw the *** as it went off into the brush.

talked to my neighbor, Jack on the North side and he said about 1700 he watched two does come down the draw off me and into his garden. They munched on what was left of tomato, cucumber, and pepper plants.
Good luck to y'all tomorrow SWO1. Post a pic of the one y'all lay down.
Carson the oldest grandson is NOW going in the morning. His girlfriend probably told him "I want some Jerky" ..... :p In any case there will now be 3 of us in the morning. It was a bare year in 2014 so hope to do a little better.
Wishing you much success. Let us know how it goes.
Just got word that my neighbor on the South side has a Pic of a wild hog in his food plot. I knew it was just a matter of time before they showed up around here. Oh well ..... besides jerky "Makin Bacon". Its open season on em in Missouri, 365 days a year, day or night .... no regs other than "Kill Em On Sight"

If they get too bad and you need some help, give me a call. I would enjoy getting in on that action. ;)

The "Bawana Scores"

Got in the stand at 0550 ..... Shooting time started at 0620. At 0630 it sounded like a Fire Fight all around us. At 0800 he walked out of the brush about 50 yards out on my side of the stand. I nugged Cameron and he took a bead. Shot him on the move ....Right thru the heart/lungs. I saw the bullet pass through and impack the ground. Of course Cameron wanted to go right down .... but again I wouldnt let him. I poured me another cup of coffee and told him to sit tight. I know he hit him as I saw him buckle and then bound off. I said if you made the shot he wont go far. If you missed then it wont matter any way ... :)

We went down after about 15 minutes. Cameron started off thru the woods looking for him. Once again I had to call him back and look for blood (he walked right past it). We started following the blood trail and about 25-30 yards back up the hill there he was. Bullet went in the right side just behind the front shoulder and out the left side. When Cameron field dressed him his heart and lungs were toast. A great shot. Dressed and back to the house at 0915 and hanging. Will Quarter him out this evending as its pretty warm. Will cool the quarters in the fridge for a couple days before working up.

The little Youth model 7X in .308 is a good shootin gun. And Cameron is good with it. A Sierra 150 GR soft point in front of 3031.
