What do you guys think about the .22 magnum cartridge as a 100-yard paper puncher? I'm just looking for something "different" and I've got a chance to buy an older Marlin bolt with a nice piece of walnut and a Leupold scope all for a good price. To date, my only experience with the .22 Magnum cartridge has been in my Ruger Single Six.

How are 22mag availability in your area??

If you cant find them then all the gun is a expensive paperweight.

Depends on what size paper .... :) A pretty good hunting round but not impressive on target shooting. Like most US made ammo there is no brand that will compete with the 22 lr in sub sonic (below 1100 fps) If you like the rifle and just want to have fun and spend about the same $$ as top LR match grade ammo thats your choice. I have a Mag pistol and dont really like it, but I keep it to carry in the field.

Hey 28,

Usually (not always) the .22 LR is more accurate.

If you get a good one......it will be great! (once you find the ammo it "likes")

Later, Mark
