Hello to all. I'm taking my .35 Rem rifle to Bristol, WI this Sunday to zero it at 200yds. Using handloads with 180gr Speer Hotcore Flatpoint bullets; 42.0grs AA2460; Rem cases; & CCI-SPEER BR-2 primers for 2400fps @ the muzzle, (24"bbl) . Should be interesting, to say the least. Hope everyone gets their deer this season. jd45
I've heard good things about the Speer 180 and they shoot good in my rifle. However, I have never had a deer show up when carrying my 35rem. BTW...my 35rem is also a 24" barrel 'A' model. Good luck this Sunday.
36A Range Visit Hyphenated, thanx for the encouragement. BTW, regarding my load, Johan Loubser, the Accurate Arms ballistian, advised me to stay at or below 42.0grs with this powder, which I intend to heed. The pressure will be in the low 40,000 range but the gun is strong enough to handle it, so he says, & I believe him.Their AA2520 works better for heavier, (such as 200; 220) bullets. I called CCI-Speer to ask about bullet drop beyond 200yds, & the Tech said 6" low @ 250 with a 200yd zero @ this MV. So once I'm zeroed, I've got a kill zone point-blank all the way out to 250yd gun. I'm certainly not expecting a shot at a deer that long, but it'll be comforting to know it has the capability if I can hold it steady enough. Good Hunting! jd45
