Hi folks. I recently bought a new 1895GS in 45-70 gov.I've run 20 rounds of leverevolution thru it but want to reload my own and plink for a while without abusing my (very) old shoulder. Local caster has 350gr GCRNFP and 405 grRNFP available at a pretty fair price. Any body have any suggestions? I have Unique,Red Dot,and some Bullseye and Trail Boss in the fridge, but from there it's hope and pray for a place to find anything locally.I'll be using new Starline and Remington brass. Thanks in advance for any help. (Remember very old shoulder)

Welcome to the forum sir! I haven't had the pleasure of much experience with the pleasure 45-70. I just know I'd like one. It's a popular calibre on here so you should get some good info. I've a question for you. How is the fit and finish of your new 1895?

The fit and finish on this rifle are beautiful. No gaps, straight seams, metal has a nice stainless sheen to it and furniture has a nice rich deep look.Action is very smooth. Everything straight and tight.

Must mention that this is the second one . My first looked and acted inside and out like it was manufactured and assembled on the beach during Hurricane Sandy. Marlin took it back with no questions asked and sent me this one. The difference is like night and day.

Need to give credit where it's due.

As soon as I get some load info I'll report on performance.
