The 99M1 and 989M2 have all the parts available and can be refurbished nicely. I have two 99M1s and would love to add a 989M2 to the rack.
The bullseye is simply Marlin marketing. It's the white circle with the black center in the bottom of the stock near where the rear sling stud would go. It allowed shoppers to easily identify Marlin's in a rack. It is only used in walnut stocks from the factory and can be replaced if missing or some uniformed person put the sling stud through it.
I also modified a '67 version of the 99M1 to take Tech Sights but have the original sight for both. I would post some pictures of mine, but Photobucket has changed their terms of service and all my pictures are gone.
