Sweet tater plants and more Radishes for today, Its a root crop period. 4-5 May will put out the tomato plants, pepper plants and Cucumber seeds along with Green Beans. The ground is damp with the rain yesterday and day before. So far the weather has been good and just enough rain to keep from watering.

Been eating lettuce, radishes, and onions.

Started at 0900, finished at 1620. What I have ready is in the ground. Tomatoes (6 varities), Beans, Cucumbers (2 varities), Peppers (Hot and sweet, 4 different varities), Okra. More tomatoes later, My mother-in-law has em in a cold frame and not quite ready to transplant yet, and the Sweet Potatoes went in the other day. More of those a little latter as the sets are still putting on roots and more on the donor potatoes. Even put in a couple Mandevilla plants I got my wife for Mothers Day along with a couple red trellis for them to climb up. Put em at the head of the path leading to the Gnome House.

With the HOT weather radishes are done. Lettuce has turned bitter with the heat, so will pull out whats left. Beans are bloomin away with little beans on two of the four kinds. Kentucky wonder pole beans are about 4' tall but no blooms on them yet. Cucumbers have set on blooms and little cucumbers. Peppers are goin great guns, been eating some already. Okra is taken off and starten to vine up the fence. Sweet taters are lookin real good, to bad have to wait till early fall for em. Tomatoes have stopped blooming. When it gets about 90+ they slow WAY DOWN. What already set will do ok, just not as big in the heat. My daughters sweet corn patch is doin Ok. I told her the ***** are keeping a close watch also .... :p As soon as they make ears and tassle they will make their move. 96 yesterday and today with 90 forecast thru middle of next week.

I have to water every morning. Getting very little rain.

When I get back Sunday afternoon will have to pick beans. There are enough for a small mess now but a couple more days and a lot. Cucumbers are getting ready also. some about 2-4" now and will for sure be ready Sunday. Have picked a couple of early tomatoes but not real heavy now because of the heat.

A good meal of fresh green beans and taters, salads, and macaroni salad with the peppers/cucumbers/tomatoes.

Cut a good mess of Chard a couple days ago and it commin back out already.
