Looking at buying a 336ss made in 2007. For deer hunting in Wisconsin.

New in box never shot.

Could get a brand new plain black 336 for $125 less.

Any thoughts?

2007 is still in the Marlin timeframe, not the Remington owned era. Does the serial number start with 93xxxxxx? Does it have the JM stamp? If so, buy the 336SS and forgo the new one, they don't make any more JM rifles and the $125 will be long forgotten.

Matt is making a lot of sense. Go with the 2007 JM model.

acquired the 30-30

did buy the stainless. very fine rifle. added a scope and sighted in with leveroultion 30-30 ammo. what a difference in point of impact between the leveroultion and standard ammo. did not get a deer this season but like Cub fans there is next year. will post a picture soon.
