Gotta love all of them old war birds. Glad to hear that you were able to get some time in the air.
I took private flying lessons for a year (long time ago) until I figured out that the cost out weighed the benefits. Actually, a change in finances put an end to it. Great fun to soar around in the wild blue yonder. A friend of mine has/had an old Champ Aircraft. It was my favorie ride at that time. Tandem Seats, Stick Controls, wide open view, 75 HP, 75 mph, low and slow. Great fun.
My favorite war birds are the B-25 Mitchell, the P-51 Mustang, the F-86 Sabre Jet and the a-10 Warthog. Not in any special order.

Love the war birds, both young and old. These pics are from the Miramar Air Show 2013.

Great posts! Although I was a "tanker" in the Army, I've always been impressed by the flyers. Plus, the Air Force cadre always seemed to eat better in the field!

Tahoe, you're obviously a man who likes fighter planes! I've always liked bombers. My wife says it's probably because they fit my personality - big, loud, lumbering, but dependable. As far as fighters go, I like P47s, Hellcats, Wildcats, Bearcats, and a new found interest - the Douglas Skyraider.

We were a Grumman family. My Dad worked for Grumman for 30+ years and retired when Northrop (no offense!) took over the company. He particularly took pride in the fact that he helped machine parts for the Lunar Module and the F14 Tomcat.

I guess if your dad worked for Jack Northrop and mine for Leroy Grumman we're family so don't forget the Christmas present this year. I wear a size 3XL Tall and my favorite color is green.

Bombers are Cool Too !!

I do like fighters more, as they protected bombers on some of their runs. But bombers were an organized team effort, and also an elite group in my book !!
If I had favorites, it would be the B-17 FF and the B-24 Liberator, two of the best "heavies" in the sky !! :D I'll try not to forget Christmas !!
