I was rummaging around in the basement and came across a book.

The title is: THE NEW GUNS ANNUAL FACTS AND PHOTOS ON EVERY AMERICAN FIREARM AND POPULAR IMPORTS.

What's so neat about it is - it was printed in 1961. It covers .22's all the way up to big game rifles, including handguns.

So, if anyone is interested what your gun cost in 1961 (along with a short bio) I'd be happy to tell you. Feel free to ask away!

I looked up my .22 rifle and it says: 1961 Remington 550: autoloader, tubular magazine holds 22 Short, 17 Long, or 15 Long Rifle .22 cartridges, 24-inch barrel, thumb safety, about 6 1/4 pounds, overall length 43 1/2 inches, adjustable iron sights, $49.85

Great find Augustus! I found an old pair of cowboy boots that I wore back in college and inside were copies of Shotgun News from 1987. Prepare to cry - New Colt Pythons in blue for $482, new Colt 1911s for $378, and you'd better sit down for these - Marlin "New! 9mm SemiAuto Carbine $163.50" with the .45ACP model selling for the same price!
