Just bought one for $900 and in great shape. They have been advertised on-line for up to $1600 (Older with JM stamped) with an average of roughly $1100. If folks keep on paying higher prices, then the higher prices will only get even higher. It takes some research and "cold calling" and you can find them at reasonable prices. Try random calls to pawn shops that advertise as a gun dealer as well as regular stuff. Lots of 1894s in 44mag and in 30-30 for sale at $600 - $700 range but .357s are in short supply. Makes sense, I guess, since the cost of .357 and .38 ammo is roughly half of that for 44mg and 30-30. In addition, the .357s are easier to target shoot with re recoil.
