I use to bow hunt, muzzle loader hunt and firearm hunt. Just not enough time to do it all, so I'm down to the lever actions when I'm in the woods.
Another thing to think about with those bow and arrows, who usually wins in the old western movies....the guys with the lever actions.

I started shooting a Bow as a teenager. My first was a Ben Pearson Recurve.
I've owned several other recurves over the years and a variety of compound bows including Bears and McPherson.
Due to age and loss of physical ability, I have switched over to a Cross Bow. I found this Barnett RC150 at Dunham's for $150.00 plus tax. I added a Sight-Mark Reflex sight and a Cocking Rope. I find that the light weight works well for my needs.I've had it in the woods a few times but have yet to harvest a deer with it. Here is an example of what it can do at 22 yards. If you look real close, you can see a nick in one of the knocks where it almost split an arrow. Trust me, it wasn't on purpose because the bolts are $6.00 ea.

i got into archery back in the mid 90's but had to give it up because there just wasn't enough time for everything going on at the time. well last year, i traded a wood chipper and shredder for a really nice PSE bow with all the bells and whistles. i haven't had a chance yet to shoot it! several times i have offers from people to buy it, but i end up not doing it for some reason or another. i need to go and buy a target and start practicing again. i use to enjoy just shooting my bow after work everyday. maybe if enough people are interested and keep this thread going, i might pick up some usefull information.
COOL! i like archery! i'm not the best archery shooter, but i do enjoy it.

I climb trees because that's the secret to success. I've been toying with the notion of getting back into bows and crossbows.
Bowfishing!
if you have never tried this part of archery, you are missing a lot of fun to be had with a bow. i tried it many years ago, and what a blast we had! it also allows you to hone your skills with the bow. most states you can bowfish any type of non-game fish anytime of the year. it also doesn't require a lot of extra equipment to set your bow up for fishing either.

have you ever tried bowfishing? i tried this many years ago, and it's a blast! also allows you a lot of practicing that is a benefit for hunting larger game.
all we gotta do is get some bowfishing rigs and a boat! i'm game. i do have a bow, but need the fishing rig for it. i got a boat, but need to finish installing the lower unit on the motor. i was going to do it last year, but the lakes in East Texas got so low, there wasn't hardly any places to launch a boat. so i just put it on the back burner, but with all the rain we have gotten, the lakes are still low, but have come up a bunch. i plan on getting the boat finished up this spring so the wife and i can go fishing with it.
well the problem we will have there, is my motor is an inboard!I have a outboard motor but no boat

I'm impressed. That is really neat. Interesting to see an example of how Bow Technology has improved over the years. We all have conversation pieces and that one is very unique.
The Bow has an interesting history. Seems as though, it was considered the most lethal weapon because of the rate of fire. From it's conception, up until the invention of repeating firearms, nothing had the repeatability. Even then, the debate continued because of the time required to reload the firearm. Whereas the Bow maintained it's repeatability until the quiver was empty. Just food for thought.
