Any other coffee lovers in the community?

I drink it all day up till 5, then stop so my heart can slow down before I go to bed.

I just finished up an Old World Espresso form Riverfront Roasters, it was excellent.

After 30+ years of Industrial Maintenance, factory work, long hours and coffee from a vending machine, my taste buds seldom find a cup of outstanding coffee.
We would buy based on price, then flavor. Usually bought the Store Brand Colombian. Then we visited an old school mate of my wife that lives in Arizona. They had a Keurig Machine. My DW (darling wife - and I'm sincere) just had to have one. We are still trying different flavors. She prefers the Tulley's French Roast whereas I waver between the Donut Shop Coconut Mocha and the Medium Blend. One cup in the morning and maybe one in the evening is all I need.
What has this world come to???? Individual cups of gourmet coffee?? What will be next??

To each his own greyhawk....Growing up the coffeepot was a large pot with grounds and egg shells ( caused the grounds to settle to the botton). coffee was dipped out with a lattle into your cup. Was kept going all day by adding more water, grounds and shells. I have always been harrassed throughout my Marine Corps carrier and today about putting Sugar in mine. I LOVE coffee and cant do without it, BUT IT MUST HAVE SUGAR or I cant get it down....And I do put a little half-and-half when at home but not required. But the sugar is. I am brand or receipe SPECIFIC on only a very few things. COLUMBIAN COFFEE/WITH SUGAR, HELMANS MAYONAYSE, AND ACCURATE FIREARMS. Oh and one other fettish....I must take a shower before I go to bed at night. I dont care if I have taken 2 or three during the day, and I have, or as close to a couple hours before beddie-bye time. If I dont I cant go to sleep. Now is that getting off the subject or what........ Bet nobody else can make a post about coffee, mayonayse, guns and showers and tie them together.....LOL

I concur - almost.
I LIKE coffee - must have Splendra & cream (started as a must to tolerate vending machine poison) - Miracle Whip (must add Ketchup to Mayonnaise to add zing) - Accurate firearms - and a shower before bed is a must.
Now back to our regular scheduled programming. :))
French Press

I need to stop drinking as much as I do. Does the half calf taste the same?

I'm actually getting a French Press this evening. Target has a Bodum on sale I liked, I knew if I waited till after the holidays I would be able to find something cheap.
I am thinkin about getting one. Never tried anything brewed in a French Press...what is the difference? My fresh ground seems like it is gettin weak and my tongue is hurtin for something new. BUT...NO FOO FOO juice...just straight coffee...Columbian...bean...grind. What does a FP do the percolarors and drippers dont?

It produces a more full bodied cup of coffee.

Many people that struggle to find the more subtle flavors in coffee find them easier with the press method.
I noticed about the same thing as you. My coffee seems to be losing its flavor. But, fresh ground is always best and Columbian at that. I like 8 oclock. But it has started to taste sweeter for some reason...kinda flat even when fresh brewed. Maybe I shouldn't have washed the sock huh?

Standard drip or do you use another type of machine?

I have an old percolator, that produces an intense cup of coffee.
If anyone wants some good coffee, Gevalia, is good for standard drip coffee.

I like Gevalia. I had a thermos they produced for a long time.

I don't know what happened to it. I'll have to ask the wife.
