It's been a trying 5 weeks.
About 5 weeks ago, my wife came down with a cold/flu that has bounced back and forth through our family and is still hanging around. I think we are getting ahead of it.
On Dec. 19th, my wife tripped and fell onto the front porch. She landed face first and broke her nose. Had to take her to the E.R. She just had that fixed early this past week. Strangely, throughout all of it, she had very little pain? Praise God.
This morning about 0920, I was taking our blind 9# Jack Russel out to do her business. Holding her in my arms, I tested the back steps for ice. It seemed OK so I let go of the porch post to step onto the patio. It was covered with black ice and I when down, landing on my left knee. Broke the knee cap into 3 pcs. The squad took me to the E.R. Got back home just after 1400 with a splint on my leg and a walker. Again, praise God, the pain is tolerable. Being a Holiday Weekend, services are limited. Will make an appointment with the doctor on Monday to determine our path forward.
I'm not complaining. All things happen for a purpose and I still have far more blessings than I have problems. There are many that have far greater issues than we do. I'm still counting my blessings.
Just wanted y'all to know just in case I'm not on here everyday as normal.
Appreciate any support from y'all. Be careful and have a blessed new year.

That's terrible! I fell off of a rock a couple months ago so I know how you feel there. I put you on my prayer list all ready. Could I have your wife's first name? Yours too. You can PM if you'd like. Good luck, and keep me posted.

Bob & Kathy.
We are blessed with our daughter and her hubby living with us. They are a great help and she is a retired RN.
Thanks to all.

Y'all might feel even better around 9:30 am tomorrow. Our Sunday School class prays for prayer request at that time. Take care and may God bless both of you!

Oh, man that is tough. Prayers just sent.
My wife has been having a hard time with Bronchitis for the past 4 weeks, she will see her Dr. tomorrow to find out if she gets hospitalized or not. Might be the only way to knock it out.
She says this has been harder on her than when she had her knees replaced. She had her left knee replaced twice. She read your post and padded me on the shoulder and said "trust in God, better days are coming."
Get well.

Update;

Keeping you posted as requested.
My wife met with her doctor today. He removed the splints from her nose. She can't do any heavy house work, bend over, blow her nose or wear any glasses for 3 weeks. The repair need time to heal.
As for me. I met the Orthopedic Surgeon today. The first thing that he done was remove the Ace Bandage that was put on at the hospital. He said it was a blood clot waiting to happen. Then he inspected the knee and found a laceration that had some infection. Need to clear that up before surgery. He cleaned it and treated the cut and gave me a script for an antibiotic. I'll see him again on Jan. 12 to confirm that the infection is gone. If it is, I'm scheduled for surgery on Jan. 13. He will try to salvage the shattered knee cap. At any rate, I'm facing weeks of recovery.
It is what it is and I am still feeling blessed. "For all things there is a season, and this too shall pass".
Thanks again for all the support, prayers and well wishes.

It's good to hear your wife is getting better, and as you quoted, it all will pass by. Its just physical pain! Lol. Y'all are still on my prayer list, brother, and will remain there as long as needed.

Glad to hear your wife is on the road to recovery. Now to get you "rebuilt". I know about the old worn out parts getting replaced. They dont heal anymore and you need new ones. Hope you a fast recovery also.

Latest update:

Update as of today: The surgery has been postponed until Friday afternoon, January 16th. There is a laceration on the left knee that hasn't healed to the satisfaction of the doctor. Will see the doctor again Friday morning and if all is well, surgery will be at 1300 hr.

Kathy is improving daily. Still needs to be very careful not to bump her nose for a few more weeks. Any accidental impact to her nose could cause real damage. Still not allowed to bend over all the way, blow her nose or wear any glasses. So far, so good.
