Got a cataract in my left eye. Last year Doc said it wasn't ready to be removed yet. Next checkup is after Deer Season. I need a new prescription and I THINK ITS READY. I'm tired of being blind in one eye and cant see out of the other......

What does he mean, "not ready go be removed "? Does it have to be ripe or something?

Hombre`, drawback is less than stellar marksmanship won't allow the reason "I couldn't see it clearly". Glad things turned out fine. I have a hint of one, but should die before it "ripens". And yes...back in service after a total rebuild of the computer.

Hit a point that had a bad sector on the hard drive and lost a bunch of stuff that I should have know to back up. New passwords now for everything. Danged electro gizmos!

Old School Doctor

I think there differing schools of thought about that. My Eye Doc said my left one wasn't bad, but he wanted to remove it anyway...just to get it done. New lenses were implanted so there is no way a cataract can reoccur. I remember my dad 20 years ago saying one of his wasn't ripe yet, and asked the doc, and he just said, "that's the old way, what was that, in the 70's?"

(I oopsed, didnt remember who said that his was not ready) But, maybe you should ask him again what he means. My eye clinic specializes in laser surgery and Lasix procedure. The surgery I had for cataracts was totally painless and I have had NO complications. Well, almost none...I didn't realize why the wimmin always chased me now I know it's cause I'm so dang good lookin.:D

2 weeks tops for "yard work"

SW, my doc said no yard work for 2 weeks. No lifting over 20 lbs for 1 week. Eye drops for a month in both eyes. Wait for the surgery to get new prescription. You will get new lenses in your eyes and may or may not need readers. I need them. But an expensive type of lense can eliminate reading glasses. I couldnt afford them but am satisfied that I can shoot w/o any glasses.

Check around. The new laser techniques are unbelievably good and painless.

I'll for sure get the surgery done before any new prescription. As for the yard work....it will be winter so no worries there. I don't use readers anyway as I only use glasses for driving and seeing detail past 10 yards or so. Shooting, a good scope works great.....some I have to take the glasses off for clear vision. But I have eliminated those for the most part.

Pistol gives me the most trouble....No glasses to see the front blade clearly, then the target almost goes away. With glasses the front blade is fuzzy. I'll have to address that with the Doc. A RedDot (some) is fine with Glasses.

I included woods walkin in with yard work, especially for blustery and dustery fall weather because of the possibility of contamination. But, the down time is short and I wasn't huntin yet anyway. I hope you enjoy the same improvment as I am enjoying, even less than a month after the last surgery. What a difference it has made.
