I like both the mountains and the shore....

Camping in the mountains of Pennsylvania with my wife and friends...hiking and taking pics of nature. We usually go to Ricketts Glen...which has a lake that feeds two parallel trails down the mountain with waterfalls on either side. Camp at the top near Lake Jean...hike down the one side, then up the other.

Swimming in the ocean...sunning on the beach, and having a few frosty ones while watching all the bathing beauties is also a favorite of mine. We usually go to Ocean City, NJ...which is a dry town ( no liquor sold ), and thus a little more family friendly. We just import the booze...

As far as traveling...been in almost every state in the union for the DoD...including Hawaii and Alaska.

Been to Canada...British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.

Been to Mexico...Cancun, Tulum, and the Chitzen Itza Mayan ruins ( climbed to the top of that 365 step pyramid )

Been to Ireland...Donegal...ancestral home is Donegal Castle ( occupied by the Brits right now ).

I've been to lots of places...too many to name. A 25 year long career in the airline business made it possible. There are so many beautiful places out there it is hard to narrow it down to just one. You could break it down by climate and or beauty. I think for the climate and life style the Italian or French Riviera's would be hard to beat. As far as beauty goes, (not counting the naked women in the Riviera's) I could look at the Swiss Alps or Rocky Mountains year round and be happy. Since I grew up in CA it's hard not to think about the Sierra Nevada Mountains. My wife thinks Truckee/South Tahoe is one of the prettiest places we've seen. Yep for me some place close to the Mountains....the Rockies or Sierra's works for me.

Yes I do...

Very cool photos.

So do you have a favorite region then?
Yes...my home state: Pennsylvania !!

Where I was born...

Where I have sunk roots and raised a family...

Where mostly all of my family and friends live...

Where I hunt and camp and travel and enjoy life...

And probably where they will bury me !! ;)

The mountain deserts of the inter mountain west, ID, WY, MT, northern NV and UT, eastern WA and OR some parts of CO. Mountains and northern desert for me. Northern CA is a great place but I could never do with the government there. I've become used to the rain here, and kind of like this place, to many people though.

Yeah duster I hear you on the CA govt. problem. That's why you would have to live on the NV side of the Sierra's. Reno is not a bad little town.

That makes sense. I look at Texas the same way.

I've always wanted to see Utah. I have a lot of friends out that way and they say it's a sportsman's paradise.

Hey all. Just checking in.
I'll have to agree with Hyphenated. Although, not as well traveled as he, there is an abundance of beauty throughout our great nation. Many regions have there own unique beauty. The area where I live in Ohio is very scenic.
Most will say that there is no place like home. It's great to get away and always better to get back home.
I gravitate towards the mountains. The Allegheny Mountain Range in Pa. is one of my favorites. I been up there Deer Hunting numerous time. The real beauty is found deep in the woods. I'm also fond of the Smokey Mountains between Gatlinburg Tn. & Cherokee NC.
In 2010 when we went to Idaho, I thought the drive from West Yellowstone to Bozeman Mt. on Hwy 191 was the best. This year, the best was today as we drove North from Senora Az. to Flagstaff on Hwy. 89a. The scenery was amazing.
As for exotic; I took a 9 week business trip to Japan back in 1982. Very interesting, in many different ways.
Thanks, Grey

When I drove trucks I got to bed down in Reno a lot. I could live anywhere in NV along I80. The area north of the interstate is some of the most remote country I've seen, and I like that.

I'll have to agree Shooter! (btw, I live 8 miles from Ricketts Glen St Park).... though I LOVE the great National Parks out west.... Rocky Mtn, Jellystone, Glacier to name a few. Also NY State has some truly remarkable real estate but I'm betting my last breath will come in Pa.
