Here's the way I fix liver, because my Mother fixed it this way. First, fry 1/2 pound of bacon. Remove bacon and add one large chopped onion. Fry on med-low until clear. Push onions to one side, place floured liver in pan and cover with onions. Place more liver on the other side and cover with onions and place bacon on top. Cover, and cook on low until done. About 15 minutes. This tastes best with a large pile of mashed potatoes. I've never soaked my liver in buttermilk, but it sounds like a good idea. I'll try it next time.
