nice fish, details bait or lure ???

I need to dust off my steelhead pole now
just recently last summer i got back into fishing as i enjoyed it for many years, then i had more pressing things to do that getting time to go fishing just didn't happen. i also bought a boat last year so the wife and i could go fishing, but with most of the lakes down so far, we never even got to use it. maybe this year with enough rain, the lakes will fill back up to a decent level to get it into the water. i am fortunate to have a wife who enjoys fishing as much or more than i do. i bought the boat for us to fish from on the water, because fishing from the bank sucks!
Axxe, where you at? I live on Lake Medina in Texas and its low as heck! Most of the rivers are dried up and I believe if it started raining tomorrow it would take twenty years for the fishing to be any good.

We caught these fish on bait out in the Gulf next to a rig.

Thanks
Fishing is fun.

My fish are much smaller. I'm mainly on local creeks and rivers.

live in East Texas, outside of Palestine. closest lakes are Lake Palestine and Richland Chambers. both are down pretty good. we have been getting some decent rain.
I'd like a little regualr rain but done give up on it.

We get clouds in the sky, light showers, then it moves on as fast as it came in.

It's a shame we need a lot more to make a difference.
I was into tournament bass fishing many years ago. Tried it for 9 years before I got burned out. The competition took the fun out and it became more like work.
But a quiet day at a farm pond (a tank as some would say) or a small lake is still a great day. Nothing taste better than a good mess of pan fried sunfish. Yum.
AND, Johnny, that is a great fish that you have there.
Growing up I had a friend with a pond in his back yard. It was always good for catching small cats and it was always a blast.
Hey Johnny. What did you shoot the fish with?
35 remington. Actually there is a not so semi-funny story. I was pulling a Snapper in at the front of the boat and a 12 foot Mako came right up. I was stunned eventhough I could have shot him point blank.
Gone Fishin!

That's crazy. I've lost fish to turtles, never sharks.
Nope. Although I intended to get back into it this year shooting and hunting prep are eating all my fun money.:(

I have a kid and a nursery doing the same thing.
I have been trying to fish, but it is always so busy so I never get time. I have gotten out some, but not enough. In later July I am going salmon fishing with my family and cannot wait. Not only because I have always wanted to fish salmon, but because they taste really good too, especially smoked!

Bmarg, you know if you go salmon fishing and catch any you have to bring some back to all the senior members as you are one of the new junior members?:D

seriously, sounds like fun and smoked salmon is good!:D
