I was reading Grayhawk and SWO1 post about the HP22A yesterday so decided today was a good day to shoot some with it.
Can't just shoot one now can I? I got the Ruger SR40C and my newly acquired Rossi model 88 stainless .38 snub special out for some fun. The Rossi snub is just almost to pretty to shoot but that wasn't going to happen. I seriously doubt the Rossi has been shot but very few times as there is practically no wear marks on it.
I did find out I still suck at shooting and competition shooting isn't for me. If I actually hit the bulls eye then it is really something to celebrate. I guess I move to much to much of the time. But I enjoy shooting so what the heck. It's better if I shoot then draw a bulls eye in the center of the shot pattern. LOL got to be creative.

I take it that you have & shot a HP22A. How did you like it??
The two that I have (mine & my wife's) have only hick up'ed a few times. I'm thinking that will improve as they break in. Could just be me, but it seems line the nickel steel is stronger, for a lack of better works, than the blued steel. It is heavier and seems to perform better.

Yes I have the HP22A. I didn't really need another .22 but I really didn't have a pocket .22. For the price and the reviews I figured I would give it a try. I am not that great of a shot with it, perhaps because such a short overall barrel and sighting. I have trouble holding steady any gun while sighting and squeezing the trigger. I guess I take to long sighting on the target.
It definitely is heavier than expected for such a little gun. I have never had a glitch with it but I suppose I haven't shot 300 rounds through it either.
This little gun has THREE safeties.
I don't really like the mag safety because it makes clearing the chamber impossible without the mag inserted. I have seen videos on you tube for disabling the mag safety. It looks to be a very simple procedure.
For an inexpensive pocket rocket it is pretty good IMO.

Out of 200 or so rounds, I've had about 5 that didn't pick up out of the mag. Almost like the slide didn't come back far enough to clear/catch the next round.

I know what you mean about the safeties. Actually, my wife likes all the safeties and I wouldn't modify them w/o having a replacement part in stock. Just in case I needed to send it back to the factory under warranty. I don't find the safeties hateful - just different.

To safely clear the chamber with rounds in the mag., put the hammer block safety ON, pull the slide back, push the Fire Safety UP to lock the slide open and then remove the mag.
