Just watched today's episode of North To Alaska with Larry Csonka. He was hunting moose with what appears to be a stainless guide gun, I assume .45-70 but I'm not certain. I only saw the last half of the show and they made no mention of his firearm. Only what I observed. When he took the shot it obviously rocked his big frame backward from recoil so it had to be a big bore. It was a full stainless, short mag rifle with a black receiver peep and black ramp style front sight. No scope. I suppose the rifle manufacturer wasn't a sponsor so nothing would have been said about the firearm in the video.

In the video his guide/hunting buddy was clearly backing him up with another lever gun. It was a full mag tube blued rifle that had to be a Winny given the look of the receiver and top eject design.

Nice to see a lever gun used in one of these shows but my curiosity about what he actually used is peaking.

I tried that before I posted here. On a recent episode of Gun Nuts David Petzal briefly showed off his 1895GBL that he sent to WWG for some upgrades. It only lasted a couple minutes but it was nice to see. Petzal is a fan of lever actions even if he doesn't mention them much.

It must have been the 1895GS 45-70.. The GS doesn't exist in 450marlin or 444marlin.
I have the GS my self and I LOVE IT!

i own that gun

hi,steve here i have the 1895 guide gun in 45/70 stainless steel and brass and 16 1/2 inch barrel it holds 6 rounds and has the large loop lever and beautiful black laminate furniture and has a rail with sx sites.the gun is a beautiful beast it will shoot anything from lever revolution to 500 grain garrat hammerheads and they changed the stock configuration and it does not kick that bad for a 45/70 i have a scope on it but hate it and am getting a leupold scout scope for it.i keep my shots to around 150 yard or so but the peep sites are great the small one and the large one i will post some pics of my beautiful beast..fyi,sorry that last pic is when i got back from 4 years in iraq and my mom took some pics but the gun is wonderful you will love it..thanks..steve
