Picked up a new 795 for my son at Bass Pro and dummy me didn't cycle the bolt. Picked it up before wrapping to check it out and can't get the bolt to cycle.
Moved the bolt release lever down with no luck. It's light duty, so I'm afraid of using too much force. I've read the manual 3-4 times and no luck. Surely I'm missing something simple. I can see the bolt release mechanism moving. The hold-up seems to be something else.
I'm not new to guns, but the only rifles I ever had were issued to me by my favorite Uncle, so this is a little new to me. What am I missing?
My wife is now convinced there's going to be nothing under the tree for my son for Christmas since we might have to send this back to Marlin.
