Ita a british black powder cartridge Produced in 1867 and used until the 1870s when it was replaced by the .577/450 Martini-henry cartridge. It was used in the Snider Enfield rifle. Obselete by todays standards however it wrecked havoc on the Zulu tribes of Africa.
The .577 fired a 420 grain lead conical at 1300 Feet per second, it was devastating at close ranges.
