I just purchased a deluxe Marlin 1984 in 38WCF. It is a takedown, half octagon-24" bbl, half magazine, with a S/N of 128,XXX.
Wondered-
How many 1984 takedown rifles were made.
How many in this configuration.
Date of manufacture.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you- Al

Since the 1894 Marlin was built from 1894 to around 1935, there's no way to answer most of your questions. The serial number would indicate 1895 production, but the factory recorded only ship dates, so it could have shipped that year, or even a few years later. A letter from the Cody Museum will tell for sure.
Factory records ceased in 1906, so how many of what type were built will never be known. Too many built after 1906 that are unknown as to numbers or styles.
