Hello. I am new to the forum. I own several marlin rifles and have always been a fan of marlin tube fed rifles. I have an issue with a model 783 22 mag I bought a few days ago. No matter how many rounds I load in the tube I can't get the inner tube to go back in over them. It will slide over the first round and then it stops hard. I tried a couple of inner mag tubes from a couple older 22" 60's I have that I know work and seem identical to the 783 inner tube and they do the same thing. I also pushed the follower into the tube and it goes back to where it should with no hang ups or issue. Other than maybe the outer mag tube being worn or something not holding the rounds up straight enough for the inner tube to slide over them I'm stumped. That's the only thing I can think of. I don't want to order another mag tube just yet. That is why I joined the forum to see if maybe someone has had the same or similar issue. If anyone knows of this issue please let me know what you think as I have tried everything and looked at everything I can think of short of a new outer mag tube. Thank you

As far as your problem...I would ask the seller from a few days ago if he knew of the problem when he sold you the rifle...

But... that's me...

Other than that...Numrich Gun Parts may be a source for a used one.

Thank you for your responses. I actually finally figured out the issue. Apparently someone at some point put a 22lr tube in it. I finally realized the case rim on a 22 mag is a hair larger than a 22lr therefore the swedge that holds in the follower would not go past the rim of the first round. Shooter13 the seller was a pawn shop and I have since talked to the guy and he was very nice. He said he would gladly pay for a new tube as he sold me a working gun and would do whatever he could to resolve the issue. My issue now of course is finding a new inner mag tube. So far no luck. Thanks again guys for the help. Just have to keep looking I guess. Enjoying the forum so far.
