Hello guys, I recently picked up a Marlin 795 after doing some research. I bought it because this is my first firearm and I feel it is a good choice for learning the basics. I have developed some questions and wanted to get some advice from experienced owners. After playing around with the rifle for a few minutes, I noticed that there is some play in the action. For example, when I go to press the magazine release, it looks like the whole action inside moves up. Is this normal or should I be concerned? I haven't gotten to shoot it yet and have seen many people suggest cleaning it before shooting. Does this include a complete disassemble of the action or can I get away with some q-tips? Finally, what do you guys use to clean and lubricate your 795's?

    Congrats on the 795!
Great rifle for any stage in your shooting! There are tons of YouTube videos for tear down / cleaning of the Marlin 795. The 60 tears down the same. All the best.
