Sorry to pester you guys again but I am thinking about buying a 1893 rifle at the local gun store. DOM is 1916, 26” round barrel. Bore has strong rifling but a little frosty. The barrel and tube blue are about 98% while the receiver case colors are about 10%. Excellent wood with nearly all original varnish with excellent wood to metal fit. 30-30 Cal. He is asking $1,495.00 for it. I know they made a gazillion of these so what is considered a fair price for one in this condition? Thanks for any and all help.

I'm somewhat hesitant to give estimates without pictures, as one persons idea of remaining case colors or bluing often differ from mine. But if it actually is as you described I think the price is still a little high. I'd probably want to get them off that price by a few hundred, but even if they drop a couple hundred it wouldn't be bad.
