I got him my 2nd day out during firearms season at about 80 yards with the 30-06. Shot him in the neck and he dropped where he stood. I'm going to have him shoulder mounted .

Thanks everybody. I was surprised just how big he was when I got over to him,I knew he had a nice rack but didn't know it was THAT nice. In all the years I've hunted that woods other than a monster buck me and dad saw while checking our fox traps,the biggest I've personally seen in there were 6 pointers. My son got an 8 pointer a few years ago and a 11 pointer,that was a 13 pointer but 2 were broke off,this year though. His 11 pointer didn't have near the size or mass as mine though.

I know how good it feels to get one of the big daddies of the woods. I have seen a herd of 13 other bucks all crowded around the big one I got in 85, just before opening day. I just went to the same area and he came out of a bedding area right at dawn. I saw the antlers and got all buck fevered...but AFTER I saw him hit the ground. Unbelievable feeling. Ya dun good sir. Congrats.

I know what you are saying. I have been down for 3 years. This year I am finally getting the OOmpah to go out there and hunt. Next year looks even better.

Hope you start to enjoy the woods again.
