So stripped the finish and shaped the grip to my likening. Finished it with a clear wax. Painted the receiver with black gloss engine coat baked on. Upgraded internals,..(need I say the name) same as all you guys.. and a set of Williams fire sights...after 40 or so hours put into this project its not bad for a 85$pawn shop pickup

The butt has got F4 tape wrapped around the end hiding the 1/4in hard foam pad. Some of you AF guys already know what F4 tape is, but for those who don't F4 tape only sticks to itself, it was a military only product till three years ago and was made in many different colors and put on the market. Best stuff ever completely seals, water, freeze proof.
The original application of the tape was to wrap the wiring in planes.. my dad was so surprised when he saw it on TV. He's was like I used to use that stuff all the time... He was in the AF for 22 years as a mechanic

You mentioned the F4 tape. Is that the same tape that I know as Live Rubber Tape that I've used for years when making high voltage motor connections?
Just curious.
And you done a good job on the refinish.
I believe that they are one in the same... I know its been around since Nam, but has only been available to consumers for only a few years
