Yup! I picked me up a Marlin XT-22, wood stock. That is the 2nd time I've gone to buy a Marlin 795 and walked out with something else. Very pleased! My first .22 was a Ruger. My wife likes it a lot. The Marlin is all mine!

Welcome to the forum. Do you wonder why you waited so long for your first Marlin?

I have yet to actually fire it. I guess I was swayed by the reputation of the Ruger and the accessories for it. Even still, I had the opportunity to go in and buy the 795 twice but something just let me away. Perhaps if the 795 came in a wood stock. I know I can probably find one aftermarket, but the XT was there with the long barrel and wood stock and it just felt awesome. I have heard the Promag 25 clips will work as they do with the 795 and the 925. Is the true? Also picked up a relatively cheap center point scope with it. Figured out the mount.

Welcome to the Marlin Forum !

Congratulations!!
Jtm, I've never checked out out the Ruger 10-22 to much, so I can't help you much there. I just got thru drooling over a 1895 45-70 tho. I got the itch bad for a new gun, but no scratch! lol And I think my wife is suspicious cause I caught her counting my guns the other day! I sneaked a Mauser in on her the other month so I think she has got wise!

Had it at the range today. Damn nice! I have to do some work on the scope. It's not zeroed out properly.

Not bad shootin'...!!
Thank you. I am getting there. The bolt action took a bit of getting used to. I was used to the Ruger semi. My son was using that. I do still see the 795 and Model 60 in my future. I would like them both to have in my meager collection.
I have always been more partial to the bolt action for some reason. To me, I make sure of a one shot kill instead of relying on the second shot. The same goes for the lever action!
