The opening is tommorow for deer..I`m all packed and ready.got the day off to boot...I`m pacing the floor like a sailor in dry dock.
Keep thinkin of the outdoors and the smell of gun oil.At this point gettin an animal is not important,I get to spend the weekend with my friends at deer camp..
I`ll be on the forum most of the day with my friends here shootin the bull..

Good luck to ya Brass.......The hunt and experience is the best part.....getting something is a bonus (sometimes). My wife cant understand how I can sit all day and come home with nothing and say "It was Great" goin again tomorrow...LOL Shooting one is almost an Anti-climax. Have to quit, field dress it, get it to the House, hang it, and if its to warm have to work it up. If ya get it early ruins the whole day...:p

All the time spent loading, testing rounds. Sighting in the guns. Scouting, checking the cameras. And then the split second it takes for the bullet to accomplish the desired result...... I really think Im happy when I don't get anything......I get to do it all over again with even greater anticipation. Am I wierd or are others like me ?

I never, ever go opening day. It always seems it the day the "just out to kill something" ppl are out in full force. Too many trigger happy ppl out there running around. Jumping at every twig snap, rummaging trough the brush oblivious someone else is there.... I have seen the genuine sporting type hunter opening day but not often. Nope, I wait a bit.

I also agree it's NOT the kill (too many think otherwise) it's getting out in the woods, the fall air and just watching nature happen.

Hunting Public, or open land SCARES me, more than combat did......

Having my own, or private land to hunt is Great !! Even with a 800+ acre cushion I kind of flinch when I hear a distant shot... Even tho I know if you hear the report the bullet has already impacted something. You never hear the one that gets ya !!

It's a great time being in the woods...I get to hant with dad like when I was a kid. Shoot the breez about what we saw in the woods and if he gets one I help him out. Its quality time and memories that you never forget. No one understands unles they do it. The kill is secondary. The memories last till you die!

Yep, setting up camp, sitting around the campfire, reminiscing of past camps and hunts, making final plans for the day ahead, finding a LARGE rub (Moose) are a particular scat (bear). These are only a few of the things that make me want to do it more!
