This time next week I will be doing some comparisons between the RCBS Uniflow and the Redding Master powder measures.

Part I

RCBS Uniflow versus Redding Master powder measure.

This is the first part of my personal review of the two powder measures as promised.

Test components include:
100 R-P 243 Winchester brass cases (fully processed and trimmed).
Hodgdon Varget rifle powder.
RCBS Uniflow with large cylinder/metering screw.
Redding Master with rifle micrometer metering screw.
Hornady powder trickler.
AWS SM-201 digital scale.
Redding RS-1 beam scale.

The first 50 cases were loaded one at a time weighing each charge using the Uniflow. The second batch of 50 I used the Redding.

At this juncture I can see no measurable difference between the two.

Part 2

RCBS Uniflow versus Redding Master powder measure.

I set up a second Uniflow in pistol configuration and changed the rifle micrometer to pistol in the Redding. The only real difference between the two is that it is very fast and easy to switch the Redding back and forth from rifle to pistol.

Used in testing:
CFE Pistol
380 ACP brass
45 ACP brass
AWS digital scale

Loaded 100 total rounds of 380. 1/2 using the RCBS and 1/2 using the Redding. Both metering rods were set at 3.5 grains. Random weight checks were taken from each batch before loading.

100 rounds of 45 ACP were loaded at 6.5 grains. Random weight checks were taken before loading.

As with the first test in rifle configuration, both measures were very consistent and within .1 grain at every check.

Again I will say that they are too similar to call one better than the other.
