protect the 2nd amendment by joining a group that helps protect our right to gun ownership. because the loss of our rights to own firearms is lost, then the loss of our other rights could follow shortly thereafter.

the 2nd admendment is always under attack from people who would desire no one other than LEO and the military to own them. from politicians and the liberal media, they try to convince us that they are evil and bad. they also try and sell the idea that if firearms were banned, then crime would cease to exist. man was robbing, raping and pillaging long before firearms were invented. as long as there are people who would do ill will towards their fellow man, there will be crime.

there is the right to bear arms so that we may defend ourselves from oppression and tyranny. to give up this right is to allow others to decide our destinies and how we live our lives. there is so many that would trade their freedoms for security or the thought of security. i prefer to stand on my own and to decide my own future. failures and accomplishments would be mine and mine alone.

to allow the 2nd admendment to ever be abolished would be a dishonor to the founding fathers of our country. it would be a dishonor to every person who ever took an oath and put on a uniform and fought for our rights. and those who died, defending our rights and freedoms, their deaths would mean nothing and died in vain. this saddens me deeply. my grandfather and my father, both served in the military, my grandfather in the Army during WWII, and my father in the Air Force and served before and during the Viet Nam war. i am very proud of both of them for their service and will honor and respect all who have served or died for this country.

Lose the 2nd amendment and we lose the 1st.
so very true Four! most people don't realize the importance of the 2nd admendment and that it protects out other rights and freedoms. God Bless Thomas Jefferson! the founding fathers of our country were trying to put into place a way for the citizens of this country to be able to protect themselves from oppression and tyranny long after they were gone. they didn't want a country that catered to the nobility and privelaged. these men were thinking way far into the future. i am sure they would be very disappointed and saddened by the way this country has become. everything that was so hard fought for, men dying for a cause they believed in, and the possibilty that had the war not been won, they would most assuredly been shot for being traitors to the Crown.

other thing to remember is, we the citizens of this country are the militia. we are the ones the founding fathers were refering to when that admendment was written into the Constitution. i believe that whether a person has worn a uniform in service of this country or not, that if we believe in those documents, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, we as citizens should feel compelled and obligated to uphold and defend those documents and what they stand for. next to the Bible, i consider those documents to be most sacred there are in regard to our country and what it's suppose to stand for.
