RamShot Powders: Looking for feedback.

I have looked at the loading manuals. Relying strictly on advertising is like trusting a used car salesman...so I need some personal input.

Has anyone used Ram Shot Powders? Just curious to see how it compares to the old reliables.

I swear by Western Powders, either Alliant or Ramshot, not at them hombre`. You won't find top speed loads with a lot of their wares, but the AA2700 is the cat's meow in 243-'06 with a particularly stunning one-hole load for the XS7 in 7-08 w/ SSTs.

I tried a pound of Ramshot TAC and was satisfied, but a research took me to use the X-elerator in the .223 & high-pressure MSR loads 8#s at a whack. Meters extremely consistent; doesn't require must trickling and seems to burn cleanly. The Ramshot Big Game works very well in '06. I never load to max recommended, but even toward the top end, the target said 'pretty darn good' place to stick with. Using 180gr Pro Hunter Flat Base Stk # 2310 also results in cases so cool you can pick them up with your lips immediately after clearing from the chamber! Had bad ju-ju with H-4350 (can't explain WHY?) and higher pressures with primer signs, so I chose the Ramshot and have had with no regrets.

Lost all my old, original data from my reloading log when the Trojan ate my hard drive, so I can't give you recipe specs. I'm back to square 1 with a lot of good loads. Thankful that they're safely ready for when needed. Got PLENTY (1K) put away, so I spect I won't be doing a large batches of '06s again for long, long spell. Big Game also netted good results with Hornady SSTs & Interlocks. It's usually a far sight cheaper and part of the original motivation for me to give it a try.

Don't trust me...I don't know nut'n anywho!

Thanks Spoon. I saw some and thought I would ask. I want to use whatever I can find when I can find it or when I am out of Ol Reliable...and need a quick fix. It seems to be reasonably priced also.

I just ordered 4# of Horney-Date Leverevolution Powder for my 3030. I want to find some good powder for some good stout loads. I also want to just try several to see what my rifle likes best. I am only one vote and that don't count if ol betsy gets indigestion from it.

I am going to try a few of those plain janes you sent and then when my LVR gets here I will load some more. I just got my little portable bench set up. I am a believer of goin cheap when possible and because my reloading needs are not what I would call strenuous, I went to Wallyworld and got a TV table and converted it into a reloading table small enough to use on an airplane.:D

Simple bench works! I'd probably tip yours over. I can be a klutz and would need it bolted to the floor! Hope you don't have too long a wait on the "Levereverlotion" formula and get whatcha want out of it. BL-C2 is my favorite all around when it comes to Hodgdon powders for rifles above the .224s. Economy and results say stick with the X-lerator and Big Game...works for me.

Ordered it yesterday, it shipped today and it is due Wednesday. I also ordered some 45 ACP brass...100 of them...must have been one of the last boxes because they just ran out again. If I had the moolah I would have ordered 500, instead of 100 45LC brass. But, I will get by with this. I plan a trip back to IA to get my hunting and shooting gear in a couple weeks to a month, then I will have more than enough. That will include about 200 lb of lead, molds and Lee 20#Prod Pot Pro; tables and moocho cases of several caliber, powder, my stock of cast bullets and my progressive press, Lee el cheapo and another brand single stage I use for sizing...What am I forgetting? Oh yeah, case tumbler/separator, vibrator case cleaner...and all that jazz. If it will fit in the minivan, I will also get my meat processing stuff and grinder. Might as well make the trip worthwhile.

I also have a war chest full of shotgun ammo, as well as a supply of BP bullets and powder. Hope I don't hit a bump.

PS I am going to put a set of skids on the legs...simply a couple firring strip pieces bolted to the legs. No tip-front or back.
