Just joined your forum and I'm looking forward to sharing lessons learned and increasing my knowledge of firearms.

I've been an avid collector of firearms for over 38 years and enjoy both single and double action pistols and revolvers, semi-auto, lever, and bolt action rifles, semi-auto, pump, over/under, and side x side shotguns, and military weapons from pre-WWII to the present...

Here's my only Marlin...a Model 80C ( 1946-1968 ) manufactured in the early 1960's before the GCA of 1968...hence no serial number. She is chambered for .22short/long/long rifle.

That is a fine looking rifle. I'm keeping my eyes open for a good used 22 bolt gun.

Here's the back story on her...

I purchased this beauty at a flea market while waiting for the Valley Gun and Country Club in Elysburg, PA to open one Sunday morning. As I walked around with my friend, I noticed a gun rack hung on the side of a shed that housed part of the market that held a few BB and air rifles. As I approached it, I saw the bottom rung of the rack had what seemed to be a real rifle on it, so I picked it up, cleared the action and asked the owner how much. To my delight, she said $100...to which I countered $80 as I pulled exactly that much from my wallet. SOLD !! was the reply. I then proceed to the local chain store to buy oil, a carry case, and a brick of .22's...then off to the range to check her out. Boy, was I surprised...she's a real tack driver with just the iron sights. Later I bought two extra magazines from Numrich Gun Parts.

Congrats. That's a great story about a great rifle at a great price.
I'd be happy with any Marlin bolt rifle that is mag. fed.
I've got a stock pile of CCI Stingers and Marlin doesn't recommend anything but std. or high velocity be used in the mod. 60 that I have. It may be OK but hyper vel. ammo isn't recommended. Guessing that a bolt gun or (better yet) a lever gun is in my future. Hehe.

shooter welcome to the forum. that is a nice looking marlin 22 rifle, and the story behind it was pretty good too. i have been looking at some of your other firearms on the other threads, pretty varied collection! i always like diversity.
