I ordered a Mossberg 464 from Bud's today. I had a Marlin and liked it. Now I want to try something different. I was going to get a Henry but I need to get work done on my car so the saved $200 will go for tires or battery, depending whether I need one.

I will post targets and pictures when I get it set up.
Here is a stock photo from Bud's:

I just got it. Not a lot of difference between the stock photo and mine. Here is what she looks like. I wiped her down but didn't give her a good bath.

Don't sweat it Hombre, I'll bet there's more than a few Winchesters, Ubertis, and Brownings in gun safes all over this forum.

Congrats on the new rifle!
Hey Hombre,

Think that Mossy will do just fine!:D

Thanks. At least I do still have my Model 60 .22. I have had to give up 2 of those in past years and that one is going to be the last thing to go if i ever have to start selling. I had to sell the 336 a few months ago so I could pay the bills and eat. It was a shooter and the guy who got it hopefully will take care of it.

I sure hope so. I just got a whole lot of brass online for her. Today I start seein how much those empties want to eat.

Thanks ms
You're still in good standings in my book. Nothing wrong with a Mossy. Lord willing, it will meet your needs and give you much pleasure.
My mod. 60 SS is sitting beside a Browning 92 and a Mosin Nagant. I think it gives it a feeling of superiority. :))

This little Mossy will be nestled between its big brother MVP 5.56 and a Savage 11VT .308. I think the MVP and 11 will be a bit overwhelmed at the historical "essence" of this Mossy...until they realize it is not a Winchester.

Thanks Grey. I know I will enjoy it. And I will post pictures and targets as soon as possible.
Winchester, Remington, Rossi, Ithaca, New England Arms, Ruger, Beretta, S&W .... it's all good
I just brought home a Ruger SR45 today. I have a model 62 in 30 cal carbine that I would not part with willingly. Have Mossberg, Winchester, just whatever. I'm def not a brand name snob.

If it feels good wear it. I have a Marlin mod 60, 2 Savages (a 22 and a .308), a Charles Daly pump 20 ga, a Mossberg MVP 5.56 , The 464 Mossy 3030 coming soon and maybe a 12 ga of some vintage too.. Then I have the 3 ML guns..a Wolf .50, a Kodiak Mag CVA .45 and a Traditions/CVA KY rifle in .45 I built end of last year. My handguns are Heritage conversion 22 22mag, Beretta Neos, a PT111 Taurus, 2 Hi Points...a 9mm and a 45 ACP. And I also have a Silent Cat .177 Spring/air rifle and a Mosin. Oh, yeah, a Rossi Single shot 410.

I am a brand snob. I insist on having one of each. I have a longish way to go.
All my rifles are different brands and all my hand guns are different brands but all my shotguns and muzzle loaders are the same brand (I only have 1 of each of those by the way :D ) .
Now she is ready to Tango. But not in Paris.

Nice setup you got there Hombre. What kind of scope did you top her off with?

That is a Simmons 4-12x44 with the parallax adjust on the left side instead of the objective. Nice clear scope. I turned it up to 6 and read the address on the neighbor's house a block away. It is gonna work out fine I think.

Thank you...again. Notice the sling. The rifle is a Mossberg, the sling...it's mossy also. I thought they are a matched pair.
Don't worry I have a few Winchesters and One Rossi besides my Marlin levers

:D

The way I look at it is if you want to know which one is the best you have to own at least one of each. Otherwise it is just hearsay.

I agree with you there Hombre.

I finally made it to the rain...I mean range, in the rain, and wind, and cold and it was one whine short of being totally miserable. But I got the new rifle out for a few sight in shots. 50 yards; 20 shots to sight in with Federal factory loads/ 150 gr flat nose. Also fired 25 rounds of home growns loaded with 125 gr FNHP from Sierra. Not a really pretty bunch of groups but after the first 2 shots with the Federals flew off North to parts unknown, leaving no trace behind of their existence, I stayed on the paper.

However, I cannot with any honesty say what shot where, except the last 5 of the factory loads, and 2 of the homegrown targets because I found a couple targets with either 1 more or one less bullet hole than I intended to shoot at those targets so I cannot say with confidence if there were itinerant bullets nesting on each others targets. But, here are 2 that I can vouch for. (I really do not know where the 2 other bullets from the first target went.) I covered the holes from 13/20 walk in shots with black tape but the target is still messy. The final 5 shots were fired and all were well in side the lines of the 2" bull.

The handloads were loaded thus: 25.5 gr; 26.0 gr; 26.5 gr; 27.0 gr; 27.5 gr of IMR 4198. Not an impressive showing but doable for now. I managed to keep all but the first 2 on paper. Not bad for a one eyed fat man with the shakes.

All in all it was fun though. It is supposed to be nicer weather in the next couple days so I will be back at it with some new loads to try. Reloader 15 this time.

The 4198 did not fill the cases very well so I am hoping for more consistency with the Re15.

PS In the bottom pic that is a 5 shot group. One shot went almost perfectly into a previous hole.

Here is the rifle and a couple target scans:
