Cloud Sky Plant Infrastructure Electricity

This is a picture of a funnel cloud that crossed behind the hospital yesterday in Corinth, MS. It is where I worked for 32 years before retiring. A little too close for comfort. Only thing about Spring I do not like.

It looks dangerous.

What is to be done when such a phenomenom appears not far from you?

Run/drive away from it?

Hide in a shelter?

If you have enough warning, the best place to be is underground in a shelter or a basement. If no basement, you need to get in the center of your house away from doors and windows. The winds of a tornado can get well over 200mph. Being hit by flying debris is the most danger.

It sounds like the best thing to do is to find a basement, and not to run away. Is it because that phenomenon move rapidly? Does it move in straight line or on the opposite its path is change rapidly from time to time?

Sorry it is not gun related, but i find it really interesting.

Generally, they move in a southwest to northeast direction as most storm systems do here. But they can come out of different directions and change direction. It depends on how fast the storm system is moving as to how fast the tornado moves. Which can get up to 60-70 mph sometimes. If you happen to be in your car, you can get away from it. They tell us to drive at right angles from it. If you get caught outside on foot, you need to lay down in a ditch or low area. To try your best to get away from the flying debris that these things cause.

Not 1800 quite yet and we've topped 6". Still going steady. Its gonna warm up some overnight and fire up the "Big Stuff". Lots of flooding down around Springfield and people are having to leave the homes around lakes and rivers.

This gonna mess up your RV trip Monday?
