I have an XL7-C in .270, and I think it's a very nice gun! Mine was made by Marlin, not one of the newer ones made by Remington owned Marlin. I can't speak to the quality of those built since Marlin sold. I'd personally stick with a used one that has the JM stamp on the barrel, to ensure it's high quality!
